Meet the only football player with epilepsy and he still playing.

How a footballer has managed epilepsy and still remained at the top of his career is one of the most surprising and motivating story one could have. Truly, the only limitation you have is that which is self imposed.

Leon Legge is currently the Captain of the league two team, Port Vale and he shared his story and motivation on living with Epilepsy as a footballer. Apparently he is not the first player to be diagnosed with such condition as he mentioned one of such other player, Matt Crooks whom communicating with, has helped him deal with his condition.He is an English footballer born in July, 1985. He was first diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 16 when he was playing youth football. He recently shared his story of how he was at the youth non-league team- ‘Little Common’ playing, he had gone for a header only to hit the ground unconscious and was rushed to the hospital. This has led to his diagnosis of epilepsy in 2001.


On his personal life, Legge talked about his parents and wife who he says has never gotten used to his episodes. He recalled moments where she would be extremely terrified by his seizures especially when it occurs while he was asleep.Legge, who is a defender playing at the centre half and number 5 for Port Vale explains how epilepsy has created a lot of challenges for him in his professional football career, facing a lot of rejections from different clubs and failing a number of medicals.

He never relented despite all the odds and this has made him create quite a record in present time professional football. He was named club player of the year for 2015/16 season at his former club, Cambridge united where he also served as captain before moving to Port Vale.

He is actively involved in epilepsy campaign and he is an ambassador for young epilepsy, helping different people with the disease condition.
