Paris Saint-Germain squad mock Erling Haaland after Dortmund’s Champions League exit

The Paris Saint-Germain squad dug out Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland after they sent the German side crashing out of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Haaland’s brace in the first leg gave Dortmund a 2-1 aggregate lead heading into the second leg in France, which was played behind closed doors at the Parc des Princes.


The Norwegian has been the talk of European football this season after his stunning form for Red Bull Salzburg earned him a big money move to Dortmund, who he chose over Manchester United.

But it was as a difficult night for the teenager as first half strikes from Neymar and Juan Bernat gave the Ligue 1 giants a 2-0 win and progression through to the quarter-finals.

Haaland’s renowned for his ‘meditation’ celebration and Neymar imitated the striker in the 26th minute when he crossed his legs and mimicked the Norwegian after opening the scoring.

It was a rather peculiar decision given there were no spectators in attendance but it got a touch stranger at full-time as the rest of the PSG squad joined in.

First the squad decided to mock Haaland on the pitch by imitating his celebration and it continued in the dressing room when Kylian Mbappe uploaded a video onto his social media with similar scenes.

It’s unclear what the motivation was behind the decision but it’s peculiar given PSG’s anti-climactic history in the competition.

The French side have blown leads against Barcelona and Manchester United in recent years and are yet to win the competition in their history.
