Creativity is really at work as a Corps member has explained what do happen to his monthly allowance from the Federal Government. If you have served before, you will understand that the monthly allowance from the Federal Government is nothing to write home about. The money in most cases is not even enough to feed corps members for the month not to talk of saving part of it. Before you can think of saving anything as a corps member, you must have another source of income like payment from your place of primary assignment or Allowance from parents. But to many, as soon as you become a corps member, your family will take their hands off your bills. How then can you save out of the N19,800?


To some corps members, their family will be expecting them to send something home out of the little they collects. How can they save??. Like an answered prayers, the allowance was increased to N33,000, yet it became worse instead of getting better. Everything become expensive leaving those who are without PPA's backup with no saving ability. Some run out of cash barely 10 days after payment while to some, it could even be less than 10days. That is why some corps members use to refer to Nysc Allowance as blood money because it doesn't last with corps members. As it enters, it leaves.
