Nigeria largest retail bank, Access Bank, is warning all its customers to be aware of fraudsters who are using new scam methods to withdraw People's money by preying on the distress that comes with the nation-wide lockdown.




The fraudsters will contact their potential victim either by mail, phone call or text to request for their bank details with a promise to credit their account, after which they will proceed to withdraw the money from the victim's bank account. They also pretend as a government officials appointed to share the relief fund provided by the Federal Government.






According to Victor Etuokwu, The Executive Director of Access Bank Plc, "Access Bank advises its customers to be very careful of any call, requesting their personal or bank information. Customers must note that their BVN, PIN, mobile device activation code, OTP or password will never be requested by the Bank as it is readily accessible to the Bank via its database. If Anyone receive any call, email or text message stated to be from Access Bank and asking for any of these information is definitely a scam, "he concluded.

Customers should avoid sharing their generated codes when migrating from the old "Diamond Bank app" to the "new Access More app". Fraudsters can gain access to your bank app with the generated code. They will have access to the money in your account, "he added.

Due to the nature of the lockdown situation, people are exposed to all kinds of threats, which may sometimes come in a different and unusual format. As a result of this, Etuokwu disclosed that everyone must be vigilant. Customers should immediately report all suspicious activities to the appropriate authority.
