Car Tires Were Originally White, See Why It Was Changed To Black

The first model of tires was the one made in 1908 by Ford Model located in Detroit State of Michigan in United State Of America.

The tires were originally white in color until World War 1 around 1914 to 1918.

Modern tires are not only different in dimension, structure and compound but also different in color.

Tires are made from rubber, naturally the color of rubber is white, it is made black by adding various chemicals like carbon black to the rubber which will drastically increase the desirable qualities of the rubber.

A chemical scientist knows that carbon aids the durability of rubber and it is not just added for cosmetic reasons or beautification.

The addition of carbon black also increases the longetivity of tires, a theory which has been confirmed by an award wining chemical Engineer Jack Koenig in his book 'Spectroscopy Of Polymers' that a tire without carbon black would last less than five thousand miles than a tire with carbon black.

Hence it was the addition of carbon black that made tire to be black and that is why we no longer have white tires on wheels but black tires, although we still have some in museum's all over the world.
