Injury updates on Arsenal duo Pablo Mari and Granit Xhaka

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta provided injury updates on Pablo Mari and Granit Xhaka after the pair suffered injuries during the club's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.

After the match, Arteta revealed Mari's injury does not 'look very good' after the defender was forced off early in the 24th minute. It was a night to forget for the Gunners as things got tough, losing midfielder Granit Xhaka, who was stretched off with what appeared to be an ankle injury after just eight minutes of play.

The north London side was forced to use two of its allocated substitution slots in replacing the pair and things got even worse after David Luiz was second off at the start of the second half. Arteta was unsure of Xhaka's injury extend but indicated that Mari may be sent for a spell on the sidelines.





"They are getting assessed at the moment," he said after the match.

"We will know probably something more tomorrow morning but Pablo’s one it did not look very good, to be honest."

The Gunners will miss the services of Luiz through suspension for the next two games. Arteta will be also desperate to get Xhaka and Mari back with fixtures coming thick and fast.
