My Experience In Nigerian Army Dep

Nigeria is a country blessed with various natural resources, wealth, dignity, pride and many other attractive and important things.

My Name is Blessing, im 22 Years old. As a soldier I am very proud of my nation, and I am very proud to serve my nation with happiness.

Since when I am in primary school, my aim is to join the military, each time I sighted soldiers in uniform, I always wish i were the one wearing the uniform because of the zeal and patriotism in me.


Though, it was not an easy journey for me right from day one I entered Trainning school till the day I passed out, due to series of Trainning and purnishments.





As a soldier, I was trained to endure all hardships, and also i was taught food and water discipline in everywhere I found my self.

I conducted the recruitment exercise, at Ojo military cantonment Lagos. Upon reching the recruitment centre, I met with some promising young boys and girls that also took part in the exercise.

Although, I was not of the giant size, I am along 1.65 metres, so I considered myself lucky to pass the recruitment exercise.

My journey to Zaria, Kaduna State was not an easy trip, although I enjoyed the journey due to the fact that it's my first time travelling to the northern part of the country.






After a successful journey, we were dropped at Depot Nigerian Army Gate and everybody parked his loads from the bus, I met other thousands of recruits who were there before us.

All of us are wearing white vest, blue shirt and white canvas, as civil clothes are not allowed in the trainning camp.

After we have dropped our loads and luggages, I observed that almost all the recruits I met there are with their buckets, broom and cuttlass.

I also went and bought my own because by looking at the situation, those items are compolsry. The soldiers at the gate deny is entry into the gate, so for that everybody has to find means of place to pass the night.

I slept at the varender of one of the nearby shops, which I have to wait for them to close the shop before I find a small space to lie down till the next morning.

As early bad 06:00 hours, the next morning, some soldiers came and direct us to a nearby primary school at the back of ANigerian Military School gate.






We almost spent the whole day there because some senior officers arrived and asked us to sit according to our states of origin.

We sat down and each state was given two soldiers, that will be assisting the officer to call our names and check our pictures that we took during zonal screening, to ensure that we are the same recruits.

After they have finished verifying our names and photos, we were asked to put our load on our heads and run through the gate.

After we were gathered at the parade ground, later one of the instructors called antivirus, came and direct us to the recruit lines.

We we slept on an empty iron beds, with no matress in top. I couldn't sleep that day, because it's my first experience to sleep on an iron bed without anything on top.

The next day by exactly 06:00 hours in the morning, we were directed to the parade ground for the commencement of our documentation.

That same day in the evening, each one among us was issued a pair of mattress, which we put on our beds.

We conducted the documentation for almost two weeks before we finished with that part. They took us to the recruitment centre and shared us according to companies.

I was lucky to be in Delta company, the champion and also the Buffalo company. At the same time, we were all giving our parmanent rooms within our companies for the duration big our trainning.

We started our trainning successfully, and after some time, we took an oath to abide by the rules and regulations of the school, and also to serve our country with honour and faith.

In addition, we were later gathered at the parade ground for the commandant's address, he welcomed us and also congratulates us for succeding in gaining entry into Depot Nigerian Army.

Our training was so fantastic, though from the begining it's very simple, but the more we are going deep into the trainning, the more it becomes harder.

I may not be able to say everything concerning the trainning, because "who no come no go know".

After six months, we passed out successful and I was posted to Lagos to serve my father land, and I am very happy to be in the military, because it's a great Privilege for me.

In conclusion, I will like to encourage other females, to try and join the military so that they will be much exposed to life and also to earn a living.
