Six Nigerian nationals have been sanctioned by US, through the Department of the Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control for stealing over $6 million.


The men targeted the United State business men and women and individuals using romance scam and deceive people using global threats known as business email compromise.


Over $6 million was lost by American citizens According to reports from the State Department, they impersonate business Chief executive officer and request they receive wire transfers from legal business owners accounts.

The department of the Treasury Office of Foreign Assets listed the accused persons by name, Michael Olorunyomi, Alex Ogunshakin, Felix Okpoh, Nnamdi Benson, Richard Uzuh and Abiola Kayode.

According to reports , cash was stolen from Americans using romance scam , claiming to love them , gain their trust and defraud them.

Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin said this internet fraudsters defraud Americans and small businesses , as modern technology increases if offers fraudulent tools that can be used for online attacks also increases, the US will not stop protecting Americans and Businnes





The United States Secretary of States has talked tough against cyber crime as he accuses 6 Nigerians of attempting to steal more than the sum of $ 6 million from the US citizens. Secretary Pompeo tweeted on his Twitter handle:


'Today, the United States designated six Nigerian nationals for conducting an elaborate online scheme to steal more than $6 million from victims across the United States. We will defend American businesses and individuals from malicious cyber activities.'
