Selfishness can be destructive in a relationship especially when the Man wants to be right all the time and the sad part is that married couples don't seem to mind the effect their actions has on their children.

Chapter 3:Stupid Pettiness

When that sensitivity is turned on maximum, we sometimes become concerned only with ourselves". Smile. It’s a beautiful day.” Yikes, was I ever embarrassed. Here was an old, crippled man, begging for coins, who looked happier than me, a young, healthy, woman, attending an Ivy League graduate school, on the way to a PhD I’ve thought about that moment many times in the thirty years or so since it happened. Sure, there are things to be upset about, disappointed over, and frustrated by—but they don’t ultimately have to determine happiness. Why aren't you happy?
