‘He’s done great’: Roy Keane admits one Arsenal man is impressing him

Roy Keane has admitted that Mikel Arteta has impressed him because of the manner in which he has ‘changed the culture’ at Arsenal, as posted by the Football Daily.





The former Manchester United midfielder, who would have had some of his greatest battles against the North London club, believes the ‘signs have been good’ for his old enemy in recent months.


Not many would have predicted Arsenal’s demise since those invincible days because, for most parts, they have looked the shadow of the team that used to run a Sir Alex Ferguson led Manchester United ragged, year in and year out.




But Keane made it clear that Arteta has ‘done great’ at the Emirates Stadium, as he praised him for the cultural change he has brought to the club.


“He’s done great,” Keane told Sky Sports. “I hate using the world culture but he seems to have changed the culture at the club.




“There seems to be a bit more steel about them. There is a long way back for them yet, in terms of challenging the top two, but the signs have been good.




“I think winning the FA Cup was a big boost to them and it kind of supports the changes he has been making. He has obviously got rid of one or two players with bad attitudes but it’s certainly been a good start for him.”

Arteta was offering double Premier League title-winner Pep Guardiola advice in the Etihad dugout before Arsenal came knocking and a lot of people were intrigued as to what the silent man behind City’s success could produce.




It was pretty clear from the off that the first thing Arteta needed to change was the mood around the place because it was at the lowest it has ever been, and that’s saying something given what Arsenal have been through during these past 10 plus years.




But one thing that hasn’t changed from Arteta’s perspective has been his mindset, decision-making and man-management towards the players. Add all that with his tactical tweaks and things are finally looking positive for a set of fans who once witnessed their club go 49 games unbeaten.
