Bernd Leno Breaks 8 Year Old Record At Anfield During Liverpool Versus Arsenal Match In The Carabao Cup

It was an outstanding performance from Arsenal's goalkeeper, Bernd Leno during the Carabao Cup match between Liverpool FC and Arsenal FC at Anfield. The match ended goalless after the full time and proceeded to a penalty in which Arsenal won by 5-4 goals. Leno proved that he is indeed Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper. He had seven (7) saves, two (2) clearances, and two (2) penalties save. Thus, he was chosen as man of the match.

After the match, the Liverpool FC, Jurgen Klopp told Leno that he was not happy with Leno's performance due to the fact that Leno denied Liverpool the chance of winning the match. The quarter-final draw is out and Arsenal will be facing Manchester City, a rematch of the 2019/2020 FA Cup semi-final.



As a result of Leno's exceptional performance at Anfield, he became the first Arsenal goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet at Anfield Vito Mannone in September 2012 (2-0). Aside from the record broken by Leno, this was the first goalless draw between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield since August 1998 in the Premier League.

Also, Liverpool played out their first goalless draw in the EFL Cup since October 1992 against Sheffield United, and first at Anfield in the competition since January 1982 versus Barnsley.
