#EndSARS: Here are some of the Nigerian Policemen declared wanted/convicted for murder

Part of the 5 by 5/demands of EndSARS movement is to clamp down on offending police officers who had abused their power and inflicted injury on the citizens. Some police operatives are known for their vicious acts, the height of it is killing innocent citizens.

Here are some of the policemen declared wanted already by the police authority at some point in time and arrested with their various crimes highlighted below.





1. Inspector Paul Joseph allegedly killed a member of the Nigerian Legion, Ademola Moshood in March 2019 while he was riding on his bike. The policeman asked for a bribe of N200 which Ademola refused. The refusal led to Johnson shooting him on the forehead with his Takorav rifle.

2. Sergeant Awusu Henry was in the news earlier this year for killing an Okada rider in Imo State over N50 bribe. The unknown dispatched rider refused to pay the bribe for not wearing a face mask. The identity of Seargent Henry was not revealed. Days after, the CP announced that he had been apprehended.




3. Inspector Dania Ojo was declared wanted for killing Ada Ifeanyi in Ajegunle, Lagos in April 2019. Insp. Dania Ojo who shot dead one Adaobi Ifeanyi and wounded another, Emmanuel Akomafuwa, in Ajegunle area was subsequently dismissed from service and declared wanted. 5 other policemen were given room trial but Ojo is currently at large.




4. Inspector Charles Okoro was in connection of a shooting in Ikotun which led to the killing of a Muslim cleric, Fatai Oladipupo. After he was declared wanted, he was arrested and given a room trial. According to Police spokesperson, Bala Elkana, he revealed that he will be transferred to the CID if indicted. No further news about his trial or judgement.








5. ASP Theophilus Otobo and Inspector Adeyemo Rotimi killed Tina Ezekwe in Lagos. The cop were from the Bariga Police Division.

Reports indicated that the policemen were trying to arrest a bus driver for violating the nationwide curfew imposed by the Federal Government to check the spread of coronavirus. In the process, the policeman was said to have shot the bus driver and Tina standing by the roadside got hit by their bullets.







6. Inspector Ogunyemi Olalekan killed Kolade Johnson in Lagos. Ogunyemi served in the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Lagos State Police Command before he was discharged from his duties. He was remanded in prison after being charged for the murder of 36-year-old Kolade Johnson at Onipetesi Estate, Idi-Mangoro.

7. Orubu Olusola, Apalowo Ola, Kasai Sule, Momoh Ogwuche and Adoga Collins - killed Maliki Mohammed at a nightclub in Oshodi, Lagos. December 2019.




8. Inspector Monday Gabriel opened fire on colleagues in Ikoyi, and killed one of them. Gabriel with No 21 Police Mobile Force Squadron Abuja ran wild after argument with his colleagues and shot them, killing one and injuring others. He tried to escape but his vehicle stumbled into the gutter.




9.Gbadamosi Lukman, a SARS officer was dismissed for killing Tunde Nafiu in Osun State. Nafiu was reportedly shot dead by Gbadamosi on his way from Ile-Ogbo, a sleepy community in Iwo, Ayedere local government area of Osun state on Thursday, August 23, 2018. He has been remanded in the Ilesha prison.




10. Niyi Oshinowo, a SARS operative from Elewe Eran, Abeaokuta was accused of leading the SARS team responsible for the death of Tiamiyu Kazeem. Tiamiyu left home to the residence of his manager and was reported to have had issues with the operatives before he was gunned down.




The Nigerian Police is trying hard to make sure that the excesses of the policemen is curbed and we hope that when the 5 by 5 demands of the EndSARS protesters are met, the country will have a better and effective policing.
