After She Said Nigerian Youths Are High On Drugs: Amuwo Odofin Residents have Pushed To Legally Recall Her

With the aftereffects of the EndSARS protests dying down slowly, life is slowly getting back to normal. However it is very important to review the events that happened several days after the President addressed the nation regarding the situation in the country.

As expected, a lot of Nigerian politicians have shared their opinions on the EndSARS protests and a lot of Nigerians have reacted to the thoughts of the politicians on the protests. However, of all the remarks from Nigerian politicians and lawmakers, the remarks of one Nigerian lawmaker does stand out.

That lawmaker is Hon. Mrs. Mojisola Alli Macaulay, representing the Amuwo Odofin Constituency 1 of Lagos state, came out on October 28th 2020, at the Lagos State House Of Assembly to state that most Nigerian youths are high on drugs all time (always under the influence of drugs all the time). The lawmaker further urged the National Orientation Agency to get working towards the orientation of the youths in Nigeria.

The lawmaker did not stop there as she continued claiming that unemployment should not be an excuse for misbehaviour, as unemployment is still something that even powerful countries like the United States are still battling with. The video of the lawmaker saying all these, made headlines and made rounds on social media.

Well, few days after that incident it seems the residents, particularly the youths in the Amuwo Odofin area which the lawmaker is representing have decided to do something about it, according to the new letters which are currently circulating online. The have now planned to legally recall Honourable Moji Alli Macaulay. In the two-paged letter signed by Gbenga Akinbinu, the coordinator of the Amuwo Odofin Chapter of the NYCN, it was stated clearly that the move to recall the lawmaker was as a result of her statements about Nigerian youths which the Amuwo Odofin Stakeholders Consultative Forum refers to as, "misguided". This is really huge considering the long process it takes to recall a lawmaker from the house of assembly.
