Varsity Crisis Deepens As NAAT Warns FG Against Accepting ASUU’s Proposed Payment Platform

While the Federal Government is yet to achieve breakthrough with the lingering strike embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, since the month of March, additionally, reports gathered have showed that the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), has warned the federal government against accepting a salary payment platform designed by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) called University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS).

According to dailytrust, the union said the government must not allow itself to be blackmailed by any union to accept the lecturers’ platform, adding that NAAT had also worked assiduously to produce its own platform called Tertiary Institutions Integrity Payroll System (TIIPS).


The NATT President, Ibeji Nwokoma, vowed that the association would also resist any attempt where the sharing of the recently approved N40bn Earned Allowance released by the federal government is skewed to favour a particular union to the detriment of its members.





Moreover, recall that the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), about four days ago, revealed that it has concluded plans to proceed on an indefinite strike in research institutes nationwide if its demands are not met within 14 days.

Specifically, the national President lamented that for 10 years, the Federal Government was yet to honour the content of the pact it freely entered into with the Joint Research and Allied Institutions Sector Unions (JORAISU) as contained in the 2010 JORAISU/FGN Agreement.





While appreciating President Muhammadu Buhari for granting some incentives to teachers, NASU insisted that the same gesture should be extended to the non-teaching staff that compliment teachers.
