Babajide React as ASUU threatens to resume its suspended strike, Check out what he said

Babajide Kolade Otitoju a veteran journalist, while speaking on the Tuesday evening edition of the popular weekly program “Journalist Hangout” on TVC news, reacts as ASUU threatens to embark on another industrial action, after Federal government has missed two timelines to fulfill their agreement.

Babajide while speaking said “ I need to enlighten our people on what ASUU did, the 9 month old strike was not called off, but suspended so it is very easy to go back on strike without any new notice to its employers, which is very tactical of university lecturers.

For me the federal government promised to pay ASUU their salaries arrears, and also release part of the revitalization fund to them on or before December 31 2020, today we have passed that timeline nothing has been paid to them. I will never blame ASUU for threatening the government with another strike.

I don’t see why the government promises what they can’t do every time, and we always advise them to stop promising. Imagine one of the germane issue that led to these last strike, the IPPIS payment platform, I was so surprised that the government at the end suspended the platform for ASUU payment. My question is that when you knew you will still give these people waiver on it, then why wasting that such time before deciding.

We need to begin to realize that if we fail to fund education adequately well then these country is not going to move forward, I want to urge the Federal government to pay ASUU salaries arrears, because these body have honoured you by suspending their strike.
