Social Media App Founded By Adamu Garba Comes Under Fire, See What Nigerians Are Saying About It

Nigerian businessman, Adamu Garba is certainly not a happy man as Nigerians have reacted to his social media app called Crowwe with negative reviews and strong criticism.

The former presidential aspirant rose to national limelight when he sued Twitter Chief Executive, Jack Dorsey for supporting #EndSARS protest, an action Adamu said was capable of escalating the crisis. He has since withdrawn the suit.



Adamu Garba's social media app, Crowwe is an instant messaging and financial transaction app that allows you to chat with friends and families whose contacts are saved on your device. It also comes with an easy-to-activate digital wallet that helps you transfer and receive money while chatting with your loved ones.

Crowwe is the first of it kind in Nigeria. It was developed by Gloomme Business Connection, a subsidiary of IPI Group Limited owned by him in 2020. It allows users to send and receive money on-the-spot, and also pay for goods in shopping malls with their crowwe digital wallet.

The app remained largely unknown until Adamu capitalized on the banning of Donald Trump and the controversial new WhatsApp new policy to call on Nigerians to ditch western platforms and join his app which he says will respect their privacy.

However, some Nigerians responded to his call by dropping negative reviews about the app on Playstore with some calling for it to be removed. One might be mistaken to say the negative reviews might have something to do with Adamu Garba for acting against #EndSars protest.

A closer check as to why there were many negative reviews, revealed a red flag over the app's privacy policy. While the platform says it will protect users' information, as it is "committed to protecting the privacy of all users.", however, Crowwe freely gives advertisers its users information, and state that it doesn't regulate or control the usage of these information by the advertisers and other third parties.

Meanwhile, Adamu in a new video posted on his Twitter, responded to the negative reviews and defended the app, saying that it has passed all checks and there is no how Google Playstore would allow any app with red flags on it platform.



He also took the chance to call on Nigerians leave Whatsapp, Twitter and other western platforms and join his own platform which he promised will give the users right over their asset and content.






"join Crowwe now, let us build our own tool so we can be proud to say that in Nigeria, we will protect our own and build own own and also remain technologically relevant Without the need of us to depend on western ideology," he also said.

Reacting to his new video, majority of Nigerians remained unfazed as some expressed there is no chance they will join the platform. He was reminded by some how he worked against Nigerians youths during the #EndSars protests, the same youths he is now calling to join his platform.

On a positive side, the instant messaging app allows you to switch to a private chat, a feature through which you can block other people from taking a screenshot of your chat with them and also auto-delete based on a timer that you have set.
