UNILAG Merges Two Academic Sessions Together

Sequel to the negative impact of the over nine months old industrial strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU, which was just suspended about two weeks ago, the Senate of the University of Lagos, has approved the merger of 2020/2021 academic session with 2021/2022 academic session.

According to punchng, the management of the institution revealed that the decision will affect the university's admission number, because it means that it now have to admit two streams, except if JAMB is not conducting its examination this year, but if it will, then the institution is going to admit students, the Vice-chancellor said.

Additionally, it was gathered that the institution would commence online lectures for returning students on Monday.


However, contrary to the step taken by UNILAG management by merging two sessions together, some Universities like OAU, Bayero University and Federal University Gusau (FUGUS), cancelled a academic session.

Recall that since the resurgence of Covid-19 pandemic in the country, tertiary institutions in the country have been innovating ways to be able to adapt to the new global health crisis, so that academic activities will not suffer further setback, after suspension of prolonged ASUU strike.
