Nigerians Rejects New Electronic Transfer Levy On Bank Transfers

There is a new charge on customers on every transfer received on their various bank accounts. Customers, especially Access Bank have expressed their displeasure on the surprise alert some of them received as they were charged not less than N50 or more as a Electronic Transfer Levy.







An electronic money transfer levy charge is part of the new finance bill 2020 signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari, what it means is that if you received a transfer of N10,000 or more you will get charged N50 for it and if you received it 5 times you will be charged N250 at the end of the day.





Imposing such heavy charge on Nigerians in this critical time will surely affect many people as they also suffering the hike on food items and petroleum prices. Many people hit many social media platforms to express their displeasure at this latest charge.

While expressing their displeasure at the charge, some of them are of the opinion that if nothing is done about such unwarranted charges then it will reach a stage where Nigerians will be charged for breathing.

Honestly, this new charge will affect Nigerians negatively. First of all, the charge is too high and the amount been placed on it is too low. If someone received N10,000 ten times, he or she will have to pay N500 for a transfer that was sent to his account while those that did the transfer were also charged for Transportation fee. This will affect many businesses if it continues.
