FIVE THINGS UNAI EMERY CAN STILL DO TO SAVE HIS JOB AND GET ARSENAL WINNING AGAIN

It’s no more a hidden fact that Unai Emery’s position as Arsenal’s manager is hanging on a thread and he cannot afford any poor result again, or else he is gone the next day.

The just finished International break if not for anything else would have afforded the Spaniard time to take stoke of all he is not getting right at the club which has led to the team suffering their worse start to the Premier league after 12 games since 1983 .

But with the premier league returning this weekend and Arsenal hosting Southampton at the Emirates Stadium, there are five things Emery can still do to get the Gunners winning again ;

One of the key decisions that will be very pivotal for Emery if he must start turning results around is to be bold enough to place David Luiz on the bench and partner Sokratis with Rob Holding at centre back .

Though Luiz came with so much experience when he arrived at the beginning of the season from Chelsea but his trademark school boy mistakes at the back has added to an already struggling Arsenal’s backline.

And its high time Emery went back to a Holding/Sokratis partnership that was beginning to flourish at the beginning of last season before the English man suffered a season ending injury.

Another thing Emery must also find a way to fix immediately is to restore confidence in defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira. That is one player that is highly under utilized by Emery and the player has not been at his very best for the Gunners, not because he is not good enough, but simply because he knows the coach does not have confidence in him.

At international level, Torreira turns out impressive performance for his country Uruguay every time – like the one he put up during the international friendly with Brazil few days ago, but it’s not the same story for the Gunners, no thanks to the manager.

Another factor that can bring results back to the Emirates is for Unai Emery to end his back and forth with the only true playmaker he has in his team, Mezut Ozil.

Personally I support the coaches’ stand on Ozil that he needs to work more for the team; however, he must find a way of integrating him very well in the first team on a regular basis. He must find a way of dwelling more on his strength than his weaknesses by playing him directly behind the striker.

Part of while the current Arsenal team are struggling this season aside their defensive problems, is Emery’s inability to get the attacking trio of Aubameyang, Lacazette and Pepe working at a level many know they can, if well coached .

Aside from the attacking trio of Salah, Mane and Firmino at Liverpool , this is another attacking trio many believe can have a big influence on the league, therefore the coach must get them flying if he is to save his job.

The last thing the Spaniard needs to do to start getting result will definitely be to stop gambling with too many of the young stars in the league.

Yes they are good and some have even shown exciting potentials but the stakes are too high at the moment to continue to throw them in big games just like that. The team is not in a very good confident place at the moment so you need more of results than gambling.
