What if it's the Real Madrid fans who are wrong about Bale?

First the Real Madrid board showed their support for him, then it was Zinedine Zidane and finally each one of his teammates, but it seems the fans don't think the same about Gareth Bale.

The Welshman was subjected to some of the loudest whistling ever heard at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu during Los Blancos' win over Real Sociedad on Saturday.

He managed to calm the hostility in the stadium somewhat with an impressive performance in the half hour he spent on the pitch.

By the end of the match some areas of the crowd were applauding him, although others were still whistling.

So, why was Bale defended so vehemently by the rest of the club?

The answer is simple.

The board think he's the best player in the current squad and they want to see the best of him again.

They believe he's still got a lot to bring to the team and selling him isn't on the agenda for the time being.

Some of Bale's teammates have come out to support him amidst media criticism and they don't want him to suffer too much from this situation.

He's never been particularly popular in the dressing room, but Bale has also never annoyed anyone and his teammates know how valuable he can be.

Zidane knows what he can contribute as well, defending him during his pre-match press conference ahead of the visit of Real Sociedad and also when he spoke to the media after the game.

The same opinion isn't shared by the supporters and they vented their frustration at Bale during the match with La Real.

However, this reaction doesn't seem to be reasonable on the fans' behalf, and some were forced to change whistles for applause because of his display.

He received an especially positive reaction after coming close to scoring from a tight angle, with Alex Remiro's legs the only thing stopping him from finding the net.

Bale seemed up for the fight against Real Sociedad and the pressure of the current situation doesn't seem to be affecting him.
