Liverpool Signed Japan International Because He Dribbled Van Dijk And Scored

Takumi Minamino’s dreams have come true after signing for Liverpool.

The Red Bull Salzburg forward will link up with Jurgen Klopp’s side from January 1 after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

The 24-year-old Japan international, who was bought for his reported release clause of £7.25million, called the move to play at Anfield a ‘dream’.

Minamino told Liverpoolfc.com : “It has been a dream, my dream to become a Liverpool player. And I’m so excited that the moment has come true.

“To play in the Premier League was one of my targets. I think this is the top-class league in the world; I was thinking if my career as a footballer progressed smoothly, someday I would be able to play in the Premier League.

“But I never thought I would be able to play in this team and I’m really happy about it. I’m looking forward to it.”

Minamino has signed for Liverpool from RB Salzburg.

The forward caused Liverpool trouble on several occasions in the Champions League this season.

Minamino impressed in two games against the Reds this season, with Klopp’s men triumphing on both occasions with a 4-3 and 2-0 win.

In the latter, the diminutive forward caused a sturdy Liverpool defence considerable issues in the opening exchanges, testing Alisson several times.

Despite those appearances against the Reds, he will not be cup-tied for Liverpool’s participation in the knockout rounds.

And the cut-priced forward added he is eager to lift silverware with the Merseysiders.

“From those games I learned this team has such a high level of technique and intensity,” he added.

“Their football is of such a high level and I did feel that they were the champions of the Champions League. Feeling that, it makes me feel even happier that I can play in this team. I’m really happy to be part of that team.

“My target is to win the Premier League and the Champions League, and to make good contributions to the team.”
