Having previously asked to be kept informed of any developments regarding Borussia Dortmund winger Sancho, the champions are now no longer waiting for their rivals to make their move and actively pursuing a deal of their own for the England starlet.

Dortmund are bracing themselves for Sancho's exit and begun their search for his successor earlier this season which had already alerted his longer-term suitors Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

City are now making a concerted push to bring Sancho back to the Etihad.

Sancho has never spoken ill of City despite feeling he had to leave to progress his career and Sportsmail understands he would be willing to consider a return.

City don't, though, have any clause inserted in the deal they struck to sell Sancho that would give them an advantage in the race to sign him.

Dortmund only have to inform City if they accept an offer for Sancho giving them the chance to match the successful bid.
