Manchester United are the club 'most interested' in Bayer Leverkusen Kai Havertz, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to add creativity to his midfield.

Liverpool and Barcelona are also admirers of the German international, but it is the Old Trafford club showing the strongest conviction.

According to Bild, United are currently at the front of the queue and Leverkusen are hoping for £81million for the 20-year-old.

United are interested but also have an eye on other creative options, namely Christian Eriksen and James Maddison.

Solskjaer has been impressed with Jesse Lingard's recent strong form but feels there is a lack of cutting edge from midfield, a problem exacerbated by the current injury absence of Paul Pogba.

Bayern Munich also hold an interest in Havertz but accept that they lack the financial clout of some of their big European rivals.

The midfielder has not been as prolific this term but is operating in a more withdrawn role to dictate play.

He has scored twice and provided one assist so far this season with Leverkusen sixth in the Bundesliga.
