Official: Another manager joins Emery and Pochettino on sack list

Former AC Milan boss, Vincenzo Montella has joined Unai Emery and Mauricio Pochettino on the list of sacked coaches this season in Europe after being relieved of his duties by Fiorentina.

Montella's sack was somewhat inevitable, as since returning to the Stadio Franchi on April 10, he has lost 13 of his total 24 Serie A games in charge and it was a defeat to AS Roma last that confirmed his dismissal.

The club released a statement on their website to annouce Montella's sacking.

“ACF Fiorentina announces that Vincenzo Montella has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team,” the club stated.

“The decision was taken following a long and detailed analysis of the team's performances and results. Given the need to rediscover the necessary grit and determination on the pitch and produce an immediate turnaround, the owners and management decided that a change of coach was the best option.

“The club would like to thank Vincenzo Montella for his efforts and commitment in recent months and we wish him every success in the next chapter of his career. A new head coach will be announced in the coming days.”
