Bella Shmurda:- Is four years in LASU really nothing?

Bella Shmurda has been able to break into limelight, thanks to Olamide. This is not a news as the "Pawon" crooner is known for uplifting talents around him.

Bella Shmurda, who had a remix of his single: "vision 2020" with Olamide has made the youths and entire populace listening to his song understand that four years in Universities, probably LASU alone where he schooled, is nothing.

This is not the first time musicians discredit territory education as a form of gaining financial freedom in the long run. Orezi and Falz have indirectly and comically passed the message also, in their hit collaboration titled "Way".

The trend of downplaying the importance of tertiary education has been on for long and it is having negative effects on some youths. This trend is often targeted at youths to secure their consent and confine their mentality into reasoning with them.

Bella Shmurda, who gave the alternative of " Scamming" as an everyday activity for boys to be able to survive has reached a wide number of youths with the possibility of instilling in them detrimental mentalities. This messages can only be worsened with the debilitating status of unemployment amongst graduates in the country. Hence, providing the mental wherewithal to ingest such poisonous beliefs.

Ironically, the ascertion is false. The tertiary education system is not only geared towards educational development, it harnesses individuals' skills and encompasses other forms of engagement in a bid to uncover a Student's niche or specialty in certain areas.

Not everyone who graduated from Universities graduate with a degree as the only valuable takeaway. Connections are made, talents are discovered, ideas are experimented with possibilities of being spotted and developed by already successful individuals.

Attending a university and completing a four, five or six years programme and unashamedly spit out the words is a disgrace on the concerned graduate.

A misunderstanding though, that majority of the youths do not understand, is the phenomenon of Space. Irrespective of how tough the employment flow is in the country, there are still spaces for up and doing graduates who knows their onions. Tertiary education is one of the most legal avenue into securing a space in the economy.

The often circulated notion that "school is a scam" and the glorification of "Yahoo yahoo" is no assurance of a space for any youth. It only creates a temporary satisfaction which can be snatched anytime anywhere once caught. The intense heat put upon fraudulent acts in the country has undoubtedly endangered the illegally created space. A life where one cannot sleep with two eyes closed or walk freely on the streets is not deserved after four years of theoretical and practical training on a legal means of livelihood and societal development.

In earnest, is four years really nothing when one sits down and think these through?

As much as this concerns all undergraduates, its a food for thought expected to be consumed and digested individually. One could decide to make it nothing and one could decide to make it count.
