See Pictures That Show How Atletico Defended Against Liverpool

Diego Simeone's team, Atletico Madrid is famous for their defensive acuity across Europe. It is difficult to score against them anywhere, let alone the Wanda Metropolitano. They are a very disciplined side who stiffle the attack of the opposing teams by a stunning tactical formation masterminded by the great tactician, Diego Simeone.

Against Liverpool in the Champions League, they produced another masterclass that Jurgen Klopp would struggle to understand.

After Saul Niguez's goal in the 4th minute, Simeone's boys locked their defense and hit Liverpool on the counter.

The pictures in this text show how tactically sound Simeone is when it comes to defense.

In the build up to their goal, Atletico Madrid players were ready to shut down any possibility of counter attack from Liverpool; they built a protective shield with 4 players.

Another picture shows how they did man to man making and assiduously closed down spaces. Surely, Alexander Trent Arnold was frustrated because he was given the opportunity to swing in crosses as usual.

It was a masterclass from Simeone.
