Who Renewed the Soap of Obesere? That is the Question People Are Asking as He Hits the Studio with Zlatan, Teni Cashes in [Videos]

Abass Akande, popularly known as Obesere, is an iconic Fuji musician who from the blues became one of the most talked-about Nigerian personality on Twitter. From nowhere, snippets of his early 2000s hit, “Egungun be careful”, surfaced on Twitter and Nigerians were not able to stop being amused by the kind of energy and style the Fuji superstar used in making the song.

For days, the song, which is over 17 years old kept Obesere as the number one trend on Twitter. Even follow musicians could not help it than to unleash their fond memories of the song when it was one of the biggest Fuji jam across western Nigeria and other parts of the world where they enjoy the Fuji genre of music.

On the flip side, people are no longer talking about how funny the song was or the amount of energy the musician put into the making of the song. All most Nigerians want to know is “who renewed Obesere’s soap?” This question gained more prominence when a video surfaced on Twitter showing that Obesere and indigenous rapper Zlatan Ibile were cooking something in a studio.

For those who may not understand what renewing of soap means, some Nigerians believe that when someone is gaining undue positive attention, such a person has influenced such through occultic power. So, those who hold such opinion are alleging that Obesere must have influenced the massive attention he is enjoying right now with some underworld power.

Whatever has happened in the background, the musician is trying as much as possible to ride on this wind of the attention he is currently enjoying. His time in the studio with energetic Zlatan Ibile shows that the Fuji musician, despite reigning when there was no internet, understands the power of the internet. Everyone is already anticipating what is about to hit the Nigerian music scene.

In the same light, since everyone is talking, writing and tweeting about “Egungun be careful”, Nigerian female musician, Teni decided to do an RnB version of the song. The “Billionaire” crooner did a video showing when she was singing the high tempo song in an RnB style. In the caption, the musician wrote: “If Obesere was an RNB singer!! Egunegun is careful na express you Dey goooo!! 😂😂😂”
