"I can see an M-16 rifle, the Nigerian armed forces don't use that." Nigerians react to COAS' photo

The war against Boko Haram in Nigeria and Africa seems to be unending, just last week, The President of the Republic of Chad and His son led a troupe of Chadian army on an attack against the dreaded Boko Haram sect. They killed and captured a lot of Boko Haram fighters and seized a lot of ammunition from the sect.



That act of bravery alone triggered a kind of uproar and protest from Nigerians on social media on what is presumed to be an audio warfare against the Boko Haram sect by Nigerian soldiers, with the government's antecedents been seen as been lenient with the dreaded sect.

In response to that uproar on the social media, the Nigerian defence headquarters has alledgely responded by embarking on an operational tour of the troops' locations. The defense headquarters through its official twitter handle said,


"Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), on Wednesday, 8 April, embarked on operational tour of troops’ locations. He was airborne and dropped from a high-altitude with a parachute"

"While addressing troops in Super Camp 1 at Molai and the Special Forces Super Camp 12 in Chabbol near Maiduguri, he expressed his appreciation and that of President Muhammadu Buhari for their commitment, dedication and sacrifices to the nation."

"He also directed the troops to train, prepare adequately and brace up for the final onslaught and eventual defeat of Boko Haram/ISWAP’s insurgency. The COAS assured the troops that their additional operational needs would be provided in a couple of days. "

Nigerians have reacted to this news, most of them saying that the picture of airborne Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff looks photoshopped.
