Reason why Airplanes are banned from flying over Messi's house

Many people are unaware that planes are banned from flying over Lionel Messi's house.

Back in March 2018, Spanish airline entered into an unplanned altercation with Barcelona star Lionel Messi, when the airlines president, Javier Sánchez-Preito revealed in an interview that planes were not allowed to fly over Messi's house in El Prat Barcelona.






The president said, "you cannot pass where Messi lives, this doesn't happen anywhere in the world".

The statement caused a lot of mixed reactions on social media against the airline, and the airline was forced to apologize to the footballer and his fans.


People started to wonder why Lionel Messi's house located in El Prat, Barcelona was no fly zone.

According to reports, Barcelona's airport is environmentally restricted, and planes entering from and arriving at El Prat have to take a turnaround route to bypass the area which is under the protection of an endangered fauna and flora species.

However, the Barcelona star lives in the municipality of Gavá, about 25km outside of Barcelona and inside an area that is under the protection of Spanish environmental legislation and that contains endangered fauna and flora species.
