4. Ghana Vs Uruguay 2010 World Cup





The match up between Ghana and Uruguay at the quarter final stage of the 2010 World Cup remain the most memorable moment at that time.

Both teams fought hard for a semifinal ticket against Holland, and though Uruguay were favorite, Ghana showed discipline and resilience against the team from South America.


Prior to the match, no African team has ever reached the Semifinals of any FIFA World Cup competition and Ghana were tipped to make history.

Both team could not find a breakthrough after 90 minutes of football and as expected the match went into extra time.

The defining moment came at the 30th minute of extra time when Ghana were awarded a free kick 30 yards from the by-line. The ball was sent into the Uruguay box and Suarez horribly handled the ball with his hand on the touchline. Gyan missed the resulting penalty and Uruguay went on to win the match 4-2 on Penalties.











Suarez saved Uruguay from a certain defeat and Ghanaians and Africans at large will always remember that moment.

3. Zidane's headbutt






Zidane's headbutting Italy defender at the Final of the FIFA World Cup held in Germany is fourth on the list.

Zidane's had earlier given France the lead via a penalty before Italy Materazzi made it 1-1. The tension filled match up saw Materazzi and Zidane's clashed on numerous occasions, and in the 110th minute during extra time, Zidane's reacted unprofessionally by giving Materazzi a headbutt to the chest.











Zidane's received his marching order which cost his team the World Cup Trophy and denied him the FIFA World Player of the Year that year.

In the buildup to the final, the Ex- France captain was hugely tipped to win the competition. He was a fan favorite but Materazzi provocative statement made Zidane reacted in an unprofessional manner.

Materazzi later revealed what transpired during the fixture. In his words he said he would rather have Zidane's sister than his shirt.

Simply an unacceptable statement from Materazzi.

2. Messi 2014 World Cup Final Loss






Germany denied Lionel Messi and Argentina the World Cup Trophy in 2014. The fixture was an opportunity for Lionel Messi to win his first World cup title, and to put an end to the debate over the greatest between himself and Maradona.

There was no breakthrough for either team after 90 minutes of football and the game headed for extra time. Mario Gotze scored the decider and shattered Messi's dream.






Argentina were arguably the better team on the night. Messi created numerous chances but Higuian was wasteful. Argentines will always have Higuian blamed for shattering their chances at the World cup.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo Injury at Euros 2016






The Euro 2016 held in France saw Portugal and Cristiano emerged winners of the competition.

The final of the competition was between Portugal and host France. The Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo after just 25 minutes was injured following a rash tackle from Payet.











Ronaldo was unable to continue the contest and broke down in tears on the pitch. The scene was indeed emotionally as Ronaldo had to be replaced and made his way to the dressing room. Portugal had just lost their talisman and the hope of victory was very slim.

After half time, Ronaldo came back on the pitch, this time seeming like an Assistant Coach. Ronaldo presence motivated his teammates and they went on to claim a 1-0 win over host France.
