Bernardo Silva hits back at Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has hit out on his Portuguese teammate Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United.

Fernandes has enjoyed a good start to life at Old Trafford before his outing was halted by the coronavirus break and in friendly banter, Silva challenged his countryman to eat more soup if he was to reach the number of titles he was won with City.

Speaking to the 5 Para a Meia-Noite show on Portuguese TV, Silva said: “I went to Tróia with some friends and it was a lot of fun. We ran, played tennis ... Now I've been here in Manchester for 10 days and I'm sick of it.

“I spoke to (Fernandes) about three days ago. He's winning 1-0 in the games between us here, but he still has to eat a lot of soup to reach the titles.”


Manchester United have played City four times this season in all competitions, winning three of them - including a Premier League double.

Manchester City, however, has won three Premier League titles since United last did it in 2012-13 but have fallen far behind in defending their title this season where they find themselves at the second point with 57 points; 25 points behind leaders Liverpool.

In nine appearances for United, Fernandes has scored three goals and made four assists with Silva playing 40 times for City this season in all competitions, scoring seven and providing eight assists.
