Compete or Die - Igbos Reply Yoruba Traders in Ladipo Market in Lagos State

The Yoruba Traders in Ladipo Market has called out to Tinubu over the dominance of Igbos in Lagos. They are threatened by the rate they have acquired properties over the whole of Lagos. According to the released video, the traders complained that Igbo tribes have have threatened to use millions to chase them out and have refused to leave. They listed varieties of shops owned and dominated by Igbos across Lagos. They therefore begged prominent Lagos leaders to intervene in their behalf.








This has triggered reactions by Igbos on twitter as they exhibit their disappointment on the issue claiming Yoruba are indirectly supporting tribalism. They urged them to compete or they die. A user identified as @DavidHundeyin wrote:

"Something I really can't hack about the Nigerian psyche is how Tunji will leave Nigeria to settle down in Ontario and buy a house which he fully understands is now his.


But Tochukwu will buy a house in Lagos and Tunji will start screaming "the Igbo people are taking our land."

As long as Nigerians refuse to understand and buy into the basic economic concept of property rights and freedom of capital, I don't know how we expect to solve the problem of official and institutionalised tribalism.

Nobody is asking you to *like* Tochukwu. You can cuss out his oney-hungry, omo-ibo arse behind closed doors like Tunji's white neighbour in Mississauga does.

But you HAVE to respect the fact that the property is now Tochukwu's property. He didn't "take" anything from you.

Every other civilisation on the planet understands property rights under a capitalist system, but Africans seem to really struggle with this idea. Yet amazingly when these same Africans move to Western countries, they understand it perfectly. Make it make sense."
