"I Pity This Robot, Soon It'll Start Taking Bribe" — Reactions As FG Deploys Robots At Abuja Airport

Mixed reactions as Federal Government of Nigeria purchases profiling robots to process passengers at the Departure Hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.





The robot is programmed to identify unwanted items and check temperature of passengers as part of measures as the International Airport reopened for business on Saturday, June 27, 2020 after several months on lockdown.

As the country gears up into restarting commercial flights, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) used the Abuja Airport as a testing ground for the robots.








The airport also witnessed strict compliance to other safety measures, aimed at curtailing the spread of the virus.

The robot is said to be interactive and can lead/direct a person inside the airport & its facilities.

Nevertheless, some Nigerians are elated of the new development, while others frowned at it.

The robots have suddenly become bone of contention on several social media platforms with many asking questions like;

*If the battery of the robots run down, which light will they charge it with?

*I pity this robot, won't the airport staff steal them?

*Won't this robots start asking for bribe soon?
