Nigerians Attack Abike Dabiri Over Hushpuppi Tweet

Some Nigerians have tackled the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, for calling out Hushpuppi after the Dubai police released details of his alleged fraudulent activities on Thursday.

Dabiri-Erewa had slammed Hushpuppi for “having the audacity to show off” after allegedly committing fraud to the tune of over N160 billion in the United Arab Emirates alongside 12 of his gang members.


The Dabai police, in a short video documentary, had said Hushpuppi (real name Ramon Olorunwa Abbas) and 12 of his gang members stole 1.6 billion Dhirams from over 1.9 million victims through online scams.

The NiDCOM chairman, in a tweet on Thursday, berated Hushpuppi for “denting” Nigeria’s image through his alleged criminal activities in the UAE capital.


“Committing crime and still having the audacity to show off. Ramoni Igbalode aka Hushpuppi . This is really denting to our image as a people , but like I always say ,fraud does not represent who we are as Nigerians. Hardworking. dedicated, committed,” Dabiri-Erewa had said.

But some Nigerians who reacted to her tweeted criticised her for failing to call out politicians in the country who in their opinion have committed more fraud than Hushpuppi.
