Villarreal coach praises Chukwueze, teammates after last-minute win (Photos)

Villarreal coach, Javi Calleja has praised Nigerian international, Samuel Chukwueze and his team mates for securing the last minute victory over Celta Vigo on Saturday.




Chukwueze provided the assist which helped his team clinch the 90th-minute 1-0 win in their first match since the return of the Spanish La Liga.

The Nigerian youngster immediately added bite to his team's attack after coming off the bench to replace his team mate Gerrard Moreno in the 57th minute.


His dazzling runs paid off when he received the ball on the left wing and passed into the 18-yard box to Carlos Bacca, but it was his rebound that was slotted into the top corner of the opposition's net by Manu Trigueros.

The 22year old forward has played 33 La Liga games this season earning 3 goals and three assists.






Speaking to the club's official website after the match, Coach Calleja described the victory as "very important" and praised his players for making the difference.

According to him, “We have played a complete match, from start to finish. In the first part we were already able to score. After the break, we leveled off a bit more until the final minutes came. Then we were more vertical and the players we have made the difference.

"Those who have started from the bench were aware of what the game needed. The work has been extraordinary for everyone", he said.

Villarreal's next match is against Mallorca on Tuesday.
