Here's Chelsea vs Wolves last five meetings' results and tips for the final match of the season

Chelsea require just a point in their final game of the elongated 2019-20 Premier League season to secure a top-four finish and a route into the Champions League but opponents Wolves have their own European ambitions to play for.



Frank Lampard has exceeded expectations during his first season at the helm of the Blues and he will want them to get the job done at Stamford Bridge on Sunday after falling to a 5-3 loss to Liverpool last time out.



Wolves need a win to make sure they secure sixth place and a guaranteed route into next season's Europa League, with Tottenham waiting in the wings if they slip up.
Blues to bounce back at the Bridge

Chelsea missed the chance to secure Champions League football on Wednesday as they were soundly beaten 5-3 by Premier League champions Liverpool at Anfield.


They have now lost three times since competitive action resumed last month, with each of those defeats away from home.

Stamford Bridge has offered a sense of comfort for the Blues, despite the absence of fans, and they have won their last home games.

A seventh successive win should be on the cards this weekend when Wolves come to town.

The West Midlanders sit just a point clear of Tottenham in seventh after another fine season and could have already punched their ticket for Europe had it not been for a few poor showings on their travels.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s men are without a win in two on the road, losing at Sheffield United and drawing at Burnley, and Chelsea look well placed to take advantage.

Chelsea are the joint fourth highest scorers in the Premier League this season and Lampard has a wealth of attacking options to select from.

The Blues’ issues this season have come at the back. They have conceded 54 goals in the league and may well present gaps for the visitors to exploit.

Wolves are pretty solid in the final third, with Raúl Jiméne enjoying an outstanding year. As is often the case on the final day of a season, this game could be wide open with goals at both ends.

Over 2.5 goals has landed in five of Chelsea’s last six games across all competitions, a 1-0 win over Norwich being the exception, while at least three goals have been scored in three of their last four at home.

If the reverse fixture is anything to go by – Chelsea won 5-2 at Molineux in September – Sunday’s encounter is set to be a cracker.

Giroud to continue streak

Olivier Giroud has established himself as Lampard’s preferred option to lead the line since Chelsea returned to action last month, edging academy graduate Tammy Abraham out of the starting side.

The Frenchman’s experience and potency in front of goal have been essential in keeping the Blues on track for a top-four slot.

He scored for a third successive game across all competitions, to take his league tally to seven, in Wednesday’s loss to Liverpool.

Indeed, five of those seven have come since the restart and he looks best placed among the Chelsea ranks to register against Wolves if he is given the nod to start.

Just over half of his goals (4) in the league have come on home soil and he is worth backing to add to that tally when the curtain comes down on the 2019-20 campaign.
