Here's Leicester vs Man United last five meetings' result and tips for the final match of the season

The Premier League season comes to a conclusion on Sunday afternoon – but for Leicester City and Manchester United, the last 90 minutes of the campaign are set to be the most vital as they face off in a fourth-place showdown.

The Foxes head into the game sitting fifth in the standings, just one point behind United and Chelsea in third and fourth respectively, and Brendan Rodgers’ men know they most likely require a victory to secure Champions League football for next season.


However, a draw for United would be enough for them to secure a top-four spot, while a Chelsea loss against Wolves would mean they both get in if the spoils are shared at the King Power Stadium.
United to get the job done in the East Midlands

Before the season was suspended, Leicester looked a certainty to finish in the top four but their form since the resumption has been scratchy, to say the least, with just nine points from a possible 24.


The Foxes were convincingly beaten 3-0 by Tottenham Hotspur last time out but, despite dropping down to fifth position, Champions League football is still on the cards and their fate is in their hands.

A victory would guarantee Rodgers’ men a top-four finish while a draw could also be enough, although that is dependent on Frank Lampard’s Chelsea losing at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It is difficult to see Leicester getting the job done against United, who were on a 19-game unbeaten run in all competitions before losing to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.

The Red Devils followed that cup exit with an underwhelming 1-1 draw at home to West Ham United on Wednesday, a result that did lift them into third place as they have a better goal difference than Chelsea.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side know a share of the spoils at the King Power is all they need but, with Leicester likely to be pushing for the win, there should be gaps for United to expose and claim all three points.

United are unbeaten in the last 11 meetings against the Foxes in all competitions, winning eight and drawing three, and they should have enough quality to chalk up another victory on Sunday.
Goals expected in an entertaining affair

One thing these two sides have not been short of this year is goals and, between them, they have scored 131 times in the Premier League this season. Leicester have the joint third best record, bagging 67 times, while United have scored just three less.

For the Foxes, it has been defensive frailties that have haunted them recently, having conceded three against Spurs and four in the chastening defeat by Bournemouth on 12 July.

United’s backline has not been the most sturdy either and they have kept just one clean sheet from their last four outings, in a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace, who have the second worst scoring record in the division.

There will be a plethora of attacking talent on the pitch at the King Power, with the likes of Golden Boot leader Jamie Vardy, Ayoze Pérez, Kelechi Iheanacho, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial all set to start, and that should lead to goals in the East Midlands.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic breakthrough season, notching his 10th Premier League goal of the campaign against West Ham, his 17th strike in all competitions.

The Englishman has formed a great attacking quartet alongside Rashford, Martial and Bruno Fernandes, and has what it takes to finish the season in style with an 11th league goal.
