Tottenham have not finished outside the top six since 2009, but risk not making any of the European spots as they're now ninth, seven points adrift 6th placed Wolves following their 3-1 loss to strugglers, Sheffield United at the Bramall Lane this evening.
Sheffield coming into the game had not won any match since the restart while Tottenham were 2-0 winners the last time out and had not lost any match since restart.
Spurs made one change with Steven Bergwijn replacing Dele Alli while Sander Berge and Ben Osborn replaced John Lundstram and John Fleck for Sheffield.



Blades' record signing Sander Berge opened his account for the club with a neat finish in the first half, completing a fine, attacking move by the hosts.
Harry Kane thought he had equalised moments later but his strike was controversially ruled out by VAR because of a handball by Lucas Moura in the build-up.





Spurs struggled to break through a solid Sheffield defence in search of an equalizer, but the hosts rather doubled their lead.

Midway through the second half, a completely unmarked Lys Mousset tapped in Enda Stevens' cutback from close range. A very shambolic piece of defending from Mourinho's men.



Kane soon had another goal rightly ruled out for an offside before Sheffield completed a comfortable victory in the closing stages as Oli McBurnie swept in for his fifth goal of the season.


A defensive lapse from Berge allowed Son Heung-min to set up Kane in the 90th minute, though it was a mere consolation as Spurs suffered their first defeat since the restart.




A typical Mourinho managed team is characterized by good defences but Tottenham today were nothing close to that.

They risk qualifying for the Europa league as it looks the champions league spots are off for them, this is coming just a year after they lost in the finals.



This raises further concerns as fans have questioned the capabilities of Jose Mourinho to compete at the highest level just as he's used to
It would be recalled some Arsenal fans wanted Mourinho in London at a time the club was going through a bad run of form under former Manager, Unai Emery.



But they've now regretted ever having such thoughts as they now believe he wouldn't have been better off.
