Do you remember in 2011 when the new iPad 2 came out?

A young guy wanted to get the new gadget by all means. But as a teenager coming from a low income family, he couldn't afford it.

You would think he will go find menial jobs to raise the money right? Wrong, instead, he chose to sell one of his kidneys on the black market.

An organ harvester approached him in a chatroom on the internet and he agreed.

He was paid around $3000 or less in a different currency. The crazy fact is that the market value of a human kidney is 80 times higher than that.

The surgery was performed in an unhygienic location but he survive and got his payment. He bought the new iPad 2 and the iPhone 4.

When asked, he said "why do I need two kidneys? One is okay."

That may sound like a cool response but within few months, he suffered renal deficiency probably due to the unsanitary conditions the surgery was performed.

He is now 26 years old and has been bedridden and plugged to a dialysis machine. Ironically, he is now in need of a kidney donation.

Forced to give up his education and now living on social benefits. Although 9 people were arrested in 2012 including the two doctors that performed the surgery in connection to the case and 5 of them were jailed.

His family was awarded around $180,000 in compensating later the same year.
