Tragedy As Hilux Van On Convoy Of National Assembly Member Falls Into River

Efforts to rescue the driver from the Hilux van that fell into River Mu, Makurdi, on Sunday afternoon





According to an eye witness report from one whose vehicle was behind the Hilux, the Hilux was on the convoy of a National Assembly member who was coming from Cross River State enroute to Abuja and the driver lost control of the car just before the bridge and fell inside the river.





While the Police Orderly and another person in the Hilux were able to come out of the car through the front side car window and passenger side window.






and were helped out of the river by some members of the community alongside with some persons on the convoy, the driver couldn't come out as he was fastened to his seat due to his seat belt.






The two survivors were rushed to a hospital in Makurdi and are currently receiving treatment, while the search for the Hilux and the driver continued.

The Hilux was eventually found inside the river, directly under the bridge, but the challenge has been getting the driver out of the Hilux.






As at the time of this report, efforts were still on to recover the body of the driver from the car from the river.
