I Didn't Know Moses Simon Is This Good - Nantes Coach Gourcuff Confesses

Coach of French Ligue 1 side Nantes Christian Gourcuff said the fantastic form of Super Eagles winger Moses Simon is a surprise ‎to him as he has no prior knowledge of the Nigerian before he joined Nantes on loan from Levante.

Simon settled down quickly in Ligue 1 with nine goals and assists before the league was brought to a halt and declared null and void due to the coronavirus crisis. However he has already made a very good impression on the coaches.



24 year old Simon is widely regarded as the best player for Nantes last season and they have already confirmed that they will trigger the option of buying him permanently when the transfer window opens.

Speaking on the form of the winger, Gourcuff admitted that he was pleasantly surprised by the form of the Nigerian before revealing that he is also delighted that he will be retained by the club.


“We soon realised that he would be a good choice, Gourcuff told RMC Sports.

“I didn’t know him at first, but his track records and qualities are great.

“From the moment there was an option to buy him , we had no doubts.

“The player himself also said that he wanted to stay. I don’t know the details, but I never doubted the purchase option.”
