Those who were in Lagos in the early 90s can still remember the popular Islam cleric, Ustaz Abdullateef Adebowale.
The popular cleric was born in Ogun State in 1961. He attended his primary and secondary schools in the Egbado area of the state. He also had a bachelor's degree from the University of Lagos.
Lateef Adebowale was taught about Christianity by his teachers while he was in secondary school. He was so brilliant that the teachers have to train him to be used in favor of their religion.
Adebowale started seeking Islamic knowledge while he was in university. When he finally gained knowledge, he decided to be an Islamic cleric who specializes in comparative religious education.
Because of his background in Christianity, it was easy for him to do a comparative study of the Holy Quran and the Bible.
Adebowale established a religious organization called Izharul Haq. The core of this organization is to call people to Islam through a comparative analysis of the Quran and the Bible.
During his lifetime, he succeeded in converting thousands of Christians around the world to Muslims with their Bible.
Many Nigerian pastors at that time were afraid to engage him in a debate because they might lose and that might collapse their congregation.
Hundreds of pastors and evangelists bowed to his knowledge and converted into Islam after debating with him.
He challenged Pastors Adeboye, Oyedepo, and others to debate but they were afraid to face him.
The organization always organizes open-air lectures across the country, especially in the Southwest states.
The Ustaz always give non-Muslims especially Christians the opportunity to come out and debate him.
He always brings out the contradiction in the Bible and shows how Jesus Christ prayer to Allah in the Bible.
Some of the questions he always asks them are;
Is Jesus Christ God or son of God?
If Jesus Christ is God, who was he praying to when the enemies captured him?
Did Jesus really die for our sins? If yes, why do we need to seek for forgiveness again?
His intention was not to demean Jesus or Christianity but to prove that Jesus was a prophet who was also a monotheist.
You can check many of his videos on YouTube to know more about him.
Ustaz Abdul Lateef Adebowale was indeed a blessing to Islam.
He died in Lagos State in the late 90s his legacy still lives on till today.
