So you can wear our fabrics" - Africans react as US Congressmen and women wears Ghanaian Kente

Some Africans have reacted to pictures of United States Democratic Congressmen and Congresswomen wearing Ghanaian fabric, Kente. The US Congressmen and Congresswomen observed a nine minute moment of silence for late George Floyd who passed away last month. On May 25, 2020, George Floyd who was an unarmed African American was allegedly killed by a now-former Minneapolis police officer who pinned his knee on Floyd's neck for about nine minutes which caused lot of protests over the week.


The US Congressmen and Congresswomen decided to wear African Kente cloth to honour late George Floyd before holding a conference to unveil their legislation in response to the ongoing protests by African Americans due to police brutality.





Following the pictures shared, some Africans have reacted to it and they have dropped their various comments.

A comment read, "So you can wear our fabrics but your people over there don't love us."

Another comment read, "Meaningless symbolism. They have the power to actually do something to help African Americans but they do nothing."

Another comment read, "All this is just politics."
