Lady Spent 139M on Gambling as She Defrauds Victims of 178M and Paid a Tithe of 1M Naira in Church

A lady based in Port Harcourt, identified as Nkechi Mercy Ikogwe has allegedly stolen a huge sum of money running into millions, as she used N139m on gambling and paid the sum of a million Naira to her church in tithe. The Money Stolen was fraudulently derived from Ponzi scheme.


She is now faced with the long arm of the law with her case now in court due to fraud, as she was charged by The Economic and Financial Crime Commission(EFCC). A huge sum of N179m is the total amount she was accused of defrauding her victim's of, the case been handled by Justice E.A Obile in Court.







The fraud was allegedly propagated with the aid of two companies in the name of Elites Finance Investment Limited and Efinc Global Investment Limited, which she used as a front for the scam.

She and her accomplises are now facing a three-count charge bothering on conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence contrary to Section 1(1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act No. 14, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act.

Mercy alongside the companies Elites Finance Investment Limited and Efinc Global Investment Limited were able to pull this stunt as they cajoled their victims with the tale of turning over an interest rate of 15% on investment, which unknown to them was just a trick up their sleeves to scam them.

The case has been adjourned to the19th of October with Justice Obile rulling that 1st defendant, Ikogwe, be remanded in prosecution’s custody till the resumption of the case at the adjourned date.
