MUSTAFI TWEETS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE HIS INCIDENT WITH VARDY; ARSENAL FANS REACT

Arsenal dropped points at home in the Premier League for only the second time under Mikel Arteta last night. The Gunners dominated Leicester City in the first half but a red card to Eddie Nketiah in the 75th minute changed the game completely.

Mikel Arteta was left fuming at the end of the game with the referee’s decision. Nketiah’s tackle was certainly red card worthy but the Arsenal boss felt that Jamie Vardy should have been off too in the first half.



Vardy’s foot caught Shkodran Mustafi’s face in what looked like an accidental collision. It is one of those cases where the more you look at it, it seems more intentional but the referee didn’t think twice about the challenge when it happened.

Mustafi’s face took some serious damage but the German international finished the game without much trouble. The former Valencia man took to Twitter after the game where he showed off the brutal scars he suffered from Vardy’s boot.

Mustafi has looked a different player since Arteta’s arrival. It wouldn’t be wrong to call him Arsenal’s best defender and his performance last night was nothing short of brilliant.

That, at one point, looked highly unlikely. Mustafi was expected to be one of the first ones to be out of the door this summer but it looks like he will now stick around for a lot longer and deservedly so.

Arsenal fans are back in love with him after his performances since the turn of the year.
