Premier League Star Retires From Football On The Final Day

Premier League star, Leighton Baines has announced his retirement from football on the last day of 2019-20 season.

Baines is an authentic Everton icon as he scored 39 goals for the Toffees during his time –29 in the Premier League – and added 52 top-flight assists. He was capped 30 times by England and played at the World cup in 2014 held in Brazil.





Everton released an official statement on their website to confirm Baines retirement from football.

"Leighton Baines confirmed he is bringing down the curtain on a fabulous 18-year professional career after making his 420th and final Everton appearance against Bournemouth on Sunday," the club stated.






Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti on Baines retirement: "Leighton Baines has taken this decision to sop playing, every Evertonian must be grateful to him, he is a fantastic example and had a great career.

"We want to keep him at the club, his knowledge is really important."
