If You Graduate From LAUTECH Without Doing ‘Yahoo', You Deserve A Medal- Ex Student Says!

Universities in Nigeria both have their good and bad sides. For many, the bad usually overshadows the good. While some are very notorious for cultism, drug abuse, internet scams, prostitution and the likes, these vices may not be too common in others.

A former student of Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), who shared his view about his former school wrote:

If you are a dude and you graduated from this school without doing yahoo, you deserve a medal. Your resistance towards intimidation and bad influence is top notch👍



He may not be wrong after all, after some of the things I found out.

In September of last year, one story that made headlines was the arrest of 25 LAUTECH students by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for offences bordering on romance scam, love scam, possession of forged documents, and obtaining money by false pretence.

Also, two years prior to that incident, a Deputy-Director of DSS said at a seminar held at the Security Department of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka that most cyber criminals in Nigeria are in LAUTECH.

Interestingly, many responders to his tweet who are both former and current students could not deny this.

LAUTECH, based in Ogbomoso, Oyo state is co owned by by the Oyo and Osun states government. There was a time when the school used to be one of the best state universities in Nigeria, however, all that has been lost now as the ownership tussle between the two states government coupled with persistent ASUU strikes has greatly affected the fortunes of the school.
